Vision “To create with and for the Community, a distinctive centre of healthcare excellence that provides, through the efficient use of resources, the highest quality of clinical patient-centred care to the Community within an innovative environment that supports the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of the Community.”
Guiding Principles
Developed by the HHS Board of Directors, the Vision and Guiding Principles are intended to provide a framework for leading the HHS management team in a direction that will help the organization achieve its ultimate goals for the new hospital. Together these guiding principles will provide the
framework for planning the new hospital.
The Project will:
- Be patient and family-focused to:
- Maintain the privacy and dignity of individuals
- Support the diverse needs of the populations served by HHS
- Ensure capacity to meet service needs including for peak periods
- Promote safety
- Satisfy patient convenience
- Be sensitive to all developmental stages of life
- Provide a natural, therapeutic environment for patient and family comfort
- Provide space to support family involvement in care delivery
- Promote customer service
- Be a source of reliable health information and innovative strategies for consumer awareness and education
- Foster a positive work life, professional development and supportive and safe environments for staff, physicians, volunteers and students.
- Be state-of-the-art, which means the Project will:
- Incorporate a full range of contemporary information systems and technology.
- Be designed to current and anticipated facility standards
- Be environmentally friendly
- Provide required adjacencies among services
- Support safe practices
- Meet infection control practices
- Support efficient and effective staffing
- Reflect contemporary, efficient and effective operational systems
- Allow for sufficient cost-effective surface parking
- Include sufficient equipment and supply storage space to ensure compliance with fire, safety and occupational health requirements
- Provide flexibility for new and expanded clinical services and technology resulting from the aging population, population increase, clinical practice changes and technological advances. This will include having the potential to expand most areas and ability to change use as new services and clinical practices emerge.
- Have easy site access and separation of traffic types (e.g., emergency, staff visitors, support services); maximize opportunities for community connections (bicycle paths, public transport, etc.).
- Maximize opportunities for revenue generation.
- Maximize opportunities for future site development.
