Q: What is the role of the Oakville Hospital Foundation?
A: The Oakville Hospital Foundation (OHF) raises funds for Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH). The Foundation strives to ensure community residents have access to the highest quality healthcare services, which government funding alone cannot provide.

Vision
To be the charity of choice for donors in the Oakville community.
Mission
To maximize financial support from the community to benefit the patients of OTMH.

Q: How will the Oakville Hospital Foundation raise funds for the New Oakville Hospital?
A: The Oakville Hospital Foundation will raise funds for the New Oakville Hospital by launching a capital fundraising campaign.

In the meantime there continues to be equipment needs at the current Hospital and the Foundation will continue its fundraising efforts. Some of the Foundation’s initiatives include direct response campaigns, campaigning door-to-door, promoting gifts and monthly giving through the online website, relying on the support of our community partners to execute fundraising initiatives that benefit OTMH and executing signature events such as the OTMH Candlelight Ball, Fine Wine Auction and the OTMH Classic. Q: What portion of my gift goes toward administrative costs?
A: In 2010/2011, we will allocate $0.72 on every dollar raised toward equipment purchases.

Q: When will the Foundation launch their Capital Campaign?
A: The Foundation is in the early stages of the Capital Campaign at this time. We are currently working on securing leadership gifts that will kick-start the campaign.  The public launch of the Campaign will likely take place soon after construction kick-off.

Q: How can I become involved in the Foundation’s New Oakville Hospital Campaign?
A: The Foundation welcomes and needs new volunteers to participate in this community-wide endeavour to build a brand new state-of-the-art hospital for Oakville.  There are many ways to become involved such as raising funds through one of the Foundation’s programs, by joining one of the fundraising committees, hosting a Community Event in support of the New Oakville Hospital and by becoming a community Ambassador for the Foundation and helping spread the word about our objectives.

Q: Why will members of the community be asked to contribute to the New Oakville Hospital Campaign?
A: Everyone in the community who has an interest in the future of the healthcare services provided in Oakville will be asked to participate. The new hospital will rely on donations to purchase essential equipment and to help fund special projects. What is not well known is that provincial government funding only goes so far. It does not cover any of our equipment needs. We rely on donations from the community to help fund the purchase of new and replacement equipment in order to better serve the needs of Oakville residents.

Q: How will my gift benefit the New Oakville Hospital when the doors do not open for several years?
A: All fundraising proceeds, beginning in 2010, will be used to purchase equipment destined for the New Oakville Hospital. Equipment purchased in the next few years will be used to provide leading-edge care at OTMH. When the New Oakville Hospital opens its doors, this equipment will be moved to the new site.

Q: Will I be able to designate my gift to a specific area in the New Oakville Hospital?
A: Yes, your pledge to the New Oakville Hospital Campaign can be designated toward a specific department within the new Hospital.

Unrestricted gifts allow us the flexibility to fund any department’s needs.

Q: Why should I make the Oakville Hospital Foundation my philanthropic giving priority for the next few years?
A: The building of a new hospital rarely occurs in one’s lifetime and the New Oakville Hospital is a great opportunity for every member of our community to contribute and support a brand new hospital that will benefit every resident at some time in their lives.

Q: What type of recognition will I receive for my gift?
A: Depending on the level of your commitment, named gift opportunities, including plaques, named rooms and wings or areas will be available and recognition for your pledge.  Recognition for your gift on the Oakville Hospital Foundation Donor Wall begins at a cumulative total of $5,000.

Additional recognition benefits, depending on the level of commitment, will be offered including gift announcements and receptions and media and public relations.
